Umpiring at SHNC

At Strathmore Heights Netball Club, we really value our umpires and know how important they are to the game. We encourage all players to give umpiring a go—not only will it help you understand the rules better, but it also builds confidence and improves your awareness on court . . . and its a little extra pocket money.

Umpiring requirements

• Minimum Age: Umpires must be at least 12 years old to umpire 

• Online learning: Complete the Foundation Umpiring Course and the Rules of Netball Exam at Netball Learning 

• Practical workshop: Attend the “Introduction to Umpiring” session held at Parkville during the school holidays

• Register as a Umpire: All Umpires are required to register through the season registration link, this ensures your NV membership is linked

• Contact the SHNC umpire co-ordinator to express your interest in umpiring, share your umpiring certificate with them

• Practice makes progress: SHNC coaches will support our developing umpires by providing opportunities to practise during team training sessions. Umpiring at training helps build confidence and reinforce the skills you’ve learnt

These requirements equips our umpires with the confidence, consistency, and game‑management skills they need to keep play flowing smoothly.
